N is the main male line of the peoples of the taiga and tundra from Finland to Chukotka, while in the Steppe there is noticeably less of it:

Which N the Kazakhs have

Among Kazakhs most N is a branch 11,800 years old, the same as among Yakuts and Finns. Inside it there is a young branch 2,500 years old, which accounts for 4% of all Kazakhs. This branch is shared with the Buryats (20%) and the Nogais (8%), among Mongols it is 4%. Its common ancestor lived in the Iron Age, long after N came to Siberia.

Among Zhetiru N is mostly different: 78% of the tested carriers are on the Uralic branch, which leads to the Khanty and the Khakas. The two branches diverged more than ten thousand years ago.
