Sensortopia Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 October 2026
Sensortopia is a collection of separate applications (sensory scenes, games, atlases and small tools) available in the browser and in app stores (Google Play, and subsequently the App Store). This policy describes how the applications themselves and this website handle data.
1. We do not collect personal data
The applications and the website do not collect personal data: no email, name, phone number or date of birth. There is no registration and there are no accounts — you never have to enter anything about yourself. What happens around purchases in the paid applications is described in section 5.
2. Data is stored locally on your device
The applications run entirely on your device. Settings, progress and the content you create are saved locally (in browser storage or on the device) and are not transmitted to our servers — we have no server that would store them.
To delete this data, clear the application or browser data, or uninstall the application.
If you enter the designation of your Y-DNA branch (genealogy applications), it is processed on the device and is not transmitted anywhere: the tree ships inside the application and the lookup runs against it. It is kept between launches only if you add it to your family tree: it then stays on the device next to the tree and never goes into the tree’s link, file or picture.
3. The sensortopia.com website
The website is a static showcase of the applications. It requires no registration, shows no advertising and uses no analytics or advertising cookies. Its web font is served from the same domain: the pages request no third-party font service.
4. Device permissions
Individual applications ask for access to device features, and always for one named capability:
- microphone — real-time sound visualisation (Calm Room). The sound becomes a picture on the screen and ends there: it is not recorded, not stored and not sent anywhere;
- location — the “near you” listing (Istanbul Mosques). The coordinates are compared against the list of mosques on the device itself, are not kept between launches and are not transmitted anywhere.
Any such access is optional, requires your explicit permission, and can be revoked in your device settings. Without the permission the application keeps working — only the capability it was asked for does not.
5. Purchases and app stores
The applications are distributed through Google Play (and subsequently the App Store). Installation and purchases are subject to the privacy policy of the respective store; the store handles the payment, and card details are never passed to us.
So that an application knows whether its paid part has been bought, the paid applications use RevenueCat (a purchase processor). It contacts its own server and sends there an anonymous installation identifier, the purchase details and technical data about the device; as with any network request, the server sees the IP address. The identifier is generated at random, is not tied to your store account and is not shared between applications. Your name, email and anything else about you never reach it — the application does not know them.
The applications make no other requests to third-party servers: text, maps and images live inside the application and work offline. A link out to an external map or site (“open in Google Maps”, say) opens in another application or in the browser — from there its policy applies, not ours.
6. Children
The applications collect no personal data and show no targeted advertising, so they are safe to use by people of any age.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The current version is always available on this page.
